Bruins drop two of three

La Ronge goalie Dasan Sydora makes a save in a scramble, with both Estevan and La Ronge players in the vicinity.

The CanElson Drilling Estevan Bruins have been a busy team on and off the ice, as they played three games in a five-day span, and completed several player transactions.

On the ice, the club defeated the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves 5-2 on November 23, but lost their next two games: 5-3 at home to the Kindersley Klippers on November 24, and 4-1 to the Yorkton Terriers November 27 in Yorkton.

Matt Brykaliuk scored twice in the victory over La Ronge, including a spectacular individual effort that was the Bruins' first goal of the game. Brykaliuk also had an empty net marker to finish the scoring.

Austin Daae, Tyler Paslawksi and Hudson Morrison also scored for Estevan, who outshot La Ronge 39-29 in the victory.

The Bruins struggled the following night against Kindersley, as they fell behind 2-0 after the first period, and trailed 4-0 after two periods. Austin Yano, Darcy DeRoose and Daae scored in the third period.

Cole Olson had the lone Bruin goal against Yorkton, a marker early in the third that made the scored 3-1. But the Bruins couldn't muster any more offence, and the Terriers added an empty net goal late in the third to wrap up their sixth straight victory.

Curtis Martinu was in goal for all three games.
Estevan's record is 8-12-2. Their 18 points leaves them in fifth place in the Sherwood Conference, two ahead of last place Weyburn, and two behind fourth place Kindersley.

The Bruins will embark on a three-game northern road trip that will take them to the Melfort Mustangs on November 30, the Flin Flon Bombers on December 1 and La Ronge on December 2.
Then they will visit the Notre Dame Hounds on December 4.

Their next home games are on December 7 against the Humboldt Broncos at 7:30 p.m., and December 8 against La Ronge at 2 p.m. The start time for the La Ronge game had to be changed to accommodate set-up efforts for the Theory of a Deadman/Big Wreck concert at Spectra Place on December 9.
