Four students from the Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) were recently involved with the recent provincial honour band.
Tenor sax player Kaylee MacKenzie and trumpeter Everett Schwab participated in the honour band for the second straight year. French horn player Shaylee Foord and tenor sax player Karissa Gustafson were first-year members. The students auditioned for a spot in the honour band during the spring.
About 90 students from Grades 9 to 12 were chosen from across Saskatchewan.
Rehearsals started in Saskatoon at the beginning of the Saskatchewan Music Conference, and continued for three days. At the end of the conference, there was a concert for the honour groups, with a band, choir and a string orchestra performing.
Dr. Robert Taylor from the University of British Columbia was the guest instructor.
