As it turns out, Kevin Keating will be a part of the South East Cornerstone Public School Board for the next four years.

Keating has been acclaimed as the trustee for Subdivision 3 on the board, which encompasses the far southeastern corner of the division. Carnduff, Redvers, Gainsborough, Carievale, Alida and other communities are included in Subdivision 3.

Keating was elected as the trustee for Subdivision 4 in 2009, when he defeated long-time trustee Garry Hammett, and Keating served the subdivision until the school board elections in October, when he was defeated by Hammett.

After his defeat last month, Keating submitted nomination papers for Subdivision 3.

The school division had been seeking a trustee for Subdivision 3 after another long-time trustee, Daryl Harrison, didn't seek another term on the board. The division issued a second call for nominations, but nobody stepped forward. Keating filed his nomination papers during the third call for a candidate.

The South East Cornerstone School Board will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday.
