Estevan Police Service members have been busy in the last week, thanks to thefts, accidents, public intoxication calls and other incidents.
*Police were dispatched to a theft of gas that occurred at a northeast Estevan service station on October 29. The subject obtained fuel and left without paying. The matter remains under investigation.
*Police attended to the 900 block of Eva Street on a report of someone carrying a fire extinguisher that was suspected to be stolen. The suspect was gone upon police arrival. The matter is under investigation.
*A 46-year-old male was arrested at a north-central establishment for public intoxication. He was transported to the police station, where he was lodged in cells until sober, and he was charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
*Police attended to the 600 block of George Street for a noise complaint. A 28-year-old male was subsequently charged under the City bylaw.
*Police received a call on October 28 about a vehicle straddling the railway tracks at the Sister Roddy Road crossing. Police attended and found a male driver behind the wheel. He was observed to be in a state of confusion and disorientation due to a diabetic condition. He was removed from the vehicle and taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for a medical examination. The half-ton truck he was in was dislodged from the railway tracks by police and driven away before any trains reached the crossing.
*A 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with mischief and breach of an undertaking. He was remanded in custody for court on October 29.
*A 22-year-old male was arrested and charged with public intoxication.
*Police were dispatched to a traffic accident on October 28. A 37-year-old female suffered minor injuries. The female was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital.
*Police were dispatched to a north Estevan apartment building on a report of an intoxicated male being in the parking lot. A 28-year-old male was arrested and transported to the police station, where he was lodged in cells for public intoxication.
*Police were called to a north-central apartment building where a male refused to leave the apartment. Upon arrival, it was determined the 34-year-old male was in need of medical assistance. EMS was called to the scene, and he was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital.
*Police were called to a central Estevan restaurant on a report of an assault. It was later determined that an assault never took place, and the matter was resolved without further incident.
*Officers were dispatched to a traffic accident in northwest Estevan. The vehicle proceeded around a curve, at which time it slid into a cement barricade. No injuries occurred. Weather conditions were a factor.
*Police were called to the scene of a traffic accident between a semi trailer and a vehicle. No injuries occurred, and no charges will be laid.
*Individuals arrived at the police station to report a traffic accident which occurred between them and a semi trailer. Minor damage occurred, no injuries happened and weather conditions were a factor.
*A theft occurred in central Estevan on October 27. A male entered a vehicle and took a purse. He removed money from the purse, discarded the purse and fled. The male was found by police a short time later and was arrested and charged for theft. He made his first court appearance on October 29.
*A hit-and-run was reported to police from a north-central establishment. A subsequent search for the vehicle resulted in a traffic stop in east Estevan, which led to the 29-year-old driver being charged with impaired driving. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on November 26. Police discovered that he was not the motorist who was driving the truck at the time of the hit-and-run accident. Further investigation by police led to a 28-year-old male being charged with failing to report property damage under the Traffic Safety Act.
*Police received a report of a theft from a vehicle in northeast Estevan. The subject entered a vehicle, which was parked in a garage, and money was taken. The matter remains under investigation.
*A theft of a computer was reported from a north Estevan motel. The matter is also under investigation.
*The theft of a pair of boots from a central Estevan business was reported to police. It is being investigated.
*A 44-year-old male was charged with failing to yield to approaching traffic following an accident on Kensington Avenue. No injuries were reported.
*A 27-year-old male left St. Joseph's Hospital before he was cleared to do so, and police were called. The male was found a short time later and was transported back to the hospital without an incident.
*A theft from a vehicle occurred in which a wallet was stolen from a truck parked in the 800 block of Third Street. The matter remains under investigation.
*A theft from a vehicle and a break-and-enter occurred at a residence in southeast Estevan. A BMX bike and a wallet, containing some money, were stolen. The matter remains under investigation.
*A theft from a northeast Estevan store was reported to police. The suspect entered the store and obtained a pair of hiking boots, at which time he took them from the box and exited the store. The matter remains under investigation.
*A traffic accident was reported to police approximately five kilometres southeast of Estevan. A semi trailer struck a bridge, which resulted in extensive damage to the truck and the bridge. No injuries were reported.
*Minor damage occurred to a vehicle that was parked in north-central Estevan as a result of a hit-and-run. The matter remains under investigation.
*A theft from a vehicle was reported to police on October 25. The victim had his Martin Bengal compound bow in the vehicle, which was parked behind a financial institute. The bow, along with arrows, was taken from the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact Estevan police.
*Police and Estevan Fire Department attended to a fire in the south area of the city. The owner had left a wood stove burning in an ice fishing shack. The fire was extinguished and only minor damage occurred at the residence.
*Police were advised of a male who was passed out on the ground at a west end drinking establishment. The 41-year-old male was unresponsive to officers when they arrived on the scene. Officers determined that the male should be examined by medical personnel to ensure he was not injured and was not at risk for alcohol poisoning. He was medically cleared and lodged in cells for his safety.
*An extremely intoxicated 30-year-old female was found at an east side drinking establishment, and was to be in possession of open alcohol. The female was issued two tickets and lodged in cells.
*An intoxicated 26-year-old male was observed urinating at a south side drinking establishment. He was arrested and lodged in cells for being intoxicated in a public place and was issued a ticket.
*Police observed a 29-year-old male exit the west entrance of a local drinking establishment with a bottle of alcohol. The subject was issued a ticket for having open alcohol in a public place.
*Police were called to an apartment on the north side of Estevan for a domestic dispute. Two male roommates were in an argument and it had turned physical. Minor injuries were observed but the males agreed to stay in their own rooms for the remainder of the evening. No further action was required by police.
*Police were requested to attend to a fight that occurred at a local drinking establishment. Members arrived and were told by staff that the individuals involved had left.
*A traffic stop was conducted and police noticed the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside test was conducted and the 26-year-old male was issued a 24-hour licence suspension.
*Police conducted a traffic stop on October 24 that resulted in two charges. A 30-year-old male was charged with impaired driving and will answer to the charge on November 19. The owner of the vehicle was charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act for having open liquor in a vehicle.
*An off-duty officer located two young adult males in a truck parked along a residential street in the north central area of Estevan. The owner of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The truck was searched by the off-duty officer who did not find anything else. The males were dealt with accordingly.
*A complaint was received that a male had been driving in the east end of town, and noticed his Stihl chainsaw fell off the back of the truck. He went back to retrieve the saw immediately, but by the time he reached the area, it had been picked up.
