Riders fall to Alouettes

The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost to the Montreal Alouettes 34-28 in a close game. The Riders defence did not play well, allowing Alouettes' quarterback Antony Calvillo to run for two touchdowns. The Riders have clinched a playoff spot, and their record is 8-8. Their final home game is against the Toronto Argonauts.

Other scores from Week 17 were: the Calgary Stampeders got past the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 34-32, the B.C. Lions hammered the Edmonton Eskimos 39-19 and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers beat the Toronto Argonauts 44-32.

In the NFL, the New England Patriots got past the New York Jets 29-26 in overtime in a close game. The Patriots record is 4-3 and their next game is against the St. Louis Rams in London.

Other scores from week 7 were: the Houston Texans blasted the Baltimore Ravens 43-13, the New Orleans Saints got past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 35-28 and the Green Bay Packers beat the St. Louis Rams 30-20.

In the United Football League, the Las Vegas Locomotives beat the Omaha Nighthawks 38-23 in the final game of a shortened season that has been call off until spring of 2013. The Locomotives' final record is 4-0.

In NCAA Football, the No. 3 Florida Gators hammered the South Carolina Gamecocks 44-11 in a one-sided game. Their record is 7-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Gators’ next game is against the No. 12 Georgia Bulldogs.

Other scores from Week 8 were: the No. 11 Florida State Seminoles beat the Miami Hurricanes 33-20, the No. 5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish got past Brigham Young Cougars 17-14, and the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners beat the Kansas Jayhawks 52-7.

In NCAA Division 1AA Football, the North Dakota State Bison took out the South Dakota Coyotes 54-0 in a one-sided game. The Bison’s record is 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
