The world famous Harlem Globetrotters will be bringing their unique brand of basketball to Spectra Place on Sunday, January 6, 2013. The show will begin at 2 p.m.
Tickets for the general public go on sale Saturday October 20 at 10 a.m. Pre-sales for Spectra Place seat holders and Estevan Bruin season ticket holders will happen on October 18.
This year's Globetrotters' tour is dubbed "You Write the Rules," and the entertainment will start long before the show starts. Fans will decide the rules for the game that could affect the final outcome. This could be anything from playing with two basketballs at once, to getting double the points for each basket.
People can vote on-line at www.harlemglobetrotters.com to determine which ground-breaking rule they want to see implemented.
Before the game, children get to actually spend time on the court with the Globetrotters by shooting and trying out ball tricks. They can also receive autographs and pose for photos. There will be a 30-minute pre-show, “Magic Pass,” and after most games, Globetrotter stars remain on the court for autographs and photographs with fans.
This year's Globetrotters roster features stars such as "Special K Daley" and "Flight Time Lang." Other players who could be making an appearance are seven-foot-eight "Tiny Sturgess," who holds the world record as the tallest professional basketball player, five-foot-two "Too Tall Hall," who is the shortest Globetrotter ever, and female star "T-Time Brawner."
The North American leg of the “You Write the Rules” World Tour will tip-off on December 26 and will run through April 2013. The Globetrotters will play over 270 games in nearly 240 cities in 45 states and nine Canadian provinces.
For 87 years, the Globetrotters have amazed fans with their ball handling wizardry, their basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment that continues to thrill fans of all ages.
