The Estevan Bruins followed up one of their best efforts of the young SJHL season with one of their most disappointing.
Estevan lost 6-1 to the Yorkton Terriers on October 9, just three days after a convincing 5-1 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings. The results left the Bruins with a 2-5-1 record eight games into the SJHL season.
Taylor Reich had the Bruins' lone goal against Yorkton – a tally six minutes into the game that opened the scoring.
Head coach/GM Keith Cassidy said the Bruins played well in the first period, but suffered from mental lapses in the final two periods. Yorkton scored five times in the final 40 minutes.
"I think it was a case of us making far too many stupid plays at critical times in the game," said Cassidy. "The guys that we're expecting to count on here, unfortunately, didn't live up to what they were supposed to be able to do last night (against Yorkton)."
Curtis Martinu surrendered all six Yorkton goals. He faced 35 shots in the game.
Estevan will return to the road for their next two games. They'll visit the Humboldt Broncos on October 12 and the Flin Flon Bombers on October 13.
