Highlights from the September meeting of the South East Cornerstone Public School Board:
*The board will convene a special meeting on October 9 to receive and discuss a report that guides the school review process. The division will analyze final enrolment numbers from September 30, and proceed to discuss the school review process. A decision on school review must be made by October 15.
*The board has approved the evaluation report for director of education Dr. Marc Casavant for the 2011-12 school year. The evaluation assesses the director’s performance based on division and board priorities, and stipulated guidelines.
*The division's audit committee has reviewed submitted tenders to conduct an exit survey, and has appointed MNP as external agents. MNP will conduct the survey and submit reports to the audit committee and to the director of education, as well as a report to the board on a quarterly basis, or when the board makes a request.
*Bryan Wilson will be nominated for the Saskatchewan School Boards Association's Award of Distinction. The award recognizes current or former board of education members who have given outstanding service to education on the local and/or provincial level.
*The board will submit proposals to the Ministry of Education for B-1 and B-5 projects. The capital requests outline a five-year proposed construction plan for facilities and schools within the division. The B-1 application outlines the second phase of school facility audits; the B-5 submissions outline block funding and non-school facilities major capital.
*An analysis of the year-end financial report indicates revenues were substantially higher than budgeted, but the revenue and expense categories may change to reflect tax reconciliation, amortization expenses and the payable expenses that would be incurred up to the end of September. The two major sources of budgeted revenues for the division are provincial grants and property taxation.
*The next board meeting is October 18.

South East Cornerstone is pleased to announce that the HomeLogic program will be open throughout the division, as of October 1.
HomeLogic provides the opportunity for parents/guardians, along with students, to stay up-to-date with student achievement through a secure web-based portal. Achievement marks for all subjects in Grades 10 to 12, and math and other assorted subjects in Grades 1 to 9, will be available.
Also accessible will be student attendance, student schedules, unofficial transcripts, assignments, and other class and school events posted by a classroom teacher. A single sign-on for parents and guardians provides access for multiple children in a family, and an automated email notification alert feature improves communication between home and school.
