Estevan Police Service dealt with a number of alcohol-related calls during the weekend.
Police responded to an accident in a ditch on the city's south side Sunday night. Officers located a vehicle that lost control and entered the ditch, causing extensive damage. Police learned that the driver had been drinking, which resulted in a 24-hour driving suspension. Officers also learned that two dirt bikes in the back of the truck had been reported stolen. The dirt bikes were seized and the matter remains under investigation.
Police attended a local establishment on Saturday on a report of a patron causing problems and refusing to leave. Officers attended and arrested a 50-year-old Estevan male for refusing to leave a licensed establishment. He was charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
In two separate incidents, males were located by police for public intoxication. Both were arrested and lodged in cells until sober.
Police located several individuals who were having an argument in a local business parking lot. Police attended and found one of the subjects injured. Through investigation, it was learned that the male had been on probation and was intoxicated. He tried to start a fight with other individuals. The male was arrested, charged with breach of conditions and lodged in cells.
Police were called to a local restaurant for an intoxicated male who had entered and was causing problems. Police attended and arrested the male for public intoxication and causing a disturbance. He was lodged in cells until sober.
Police received a complaint of an assault that took place at a local sporting event on Friday night. Police located the individuals involved and dealt with the matter. The incident is under investigation.
Police received several calls about house parties that caused noise. Police attended and issued numerous tickets for open alcohol, and for minors possessing alcohol.
Officers were also alerted to several individuals who were intoxicated at local businesses. Police attended and arrested the intoxicated individuals. They were lodged in cells until sober.
Police located a Manitoba male outside a local establishment with an illegal drug. The male, from Brandon, was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and was lodged in cells until sober. He will appear in Estevan Court in October to answer to the charges.
Police were dispatched to a complaint of a male who was intoxicated and walking along a highway. He was transported to a safe location. While dealing with the intoxicated subject, police located an impaired driver on the edge of the city who had rolled their vehicle. No injuries were sustained by the lone occupant of the vehicle. The matter was turned over to the Estevan RCMP for investigation.
Police were dispatched to a local hotel over some people who were causing problems in a hallway. Police attended and learned that five males from Ontario had been drinking and were having problems with a situation that had arisen. Police sent two of the males on their way, and concluded the matter peacefully.
