Estevan's stop on the Canadian Cowboys Association's Rodeo Tour once again attracted hundreds of competitors, and thousands of spectators, to the Estevan Exhibition Association's rodeo arena on September 7 and 8.
Ten different rodeo disciplines were offered, including seven professional events, two novice divisions and one junior class. Some of the competitors were able to compete in multiple events. There was also a healthy contingent of local competitors in this year's rodeo.
Results from the rodeo were:
*Bull riding: Tim Lipsett posted the top score with an 83. Lane Laplante was second with a 79, Cody Coverchuk was third with a 76 and Teagan Hodgson was fourth with a 72.
*Bareback: Dustan McPhee won with a score of 78. Brady Bertram was second with a 76. Jonathan Kmita and Colter Harden were tied for third with 74 each.
*Novice bareback: Lane Link had the only successful ride. He had a score of 59.
*Saddle bronc: Keifer Watt had the top ride with a score of 78. Ross Kreutzer and Clinton Kox were tied for second at 76. Josh Harden was fourth with a 75.
*Novice saddle bronc: Luke Chaplain had the best score with a 62. Jack Bredhauer was second with a 57, Jace Doenz was third with a 54 and Lachlan Marshall was fourth with a 53.
*Ladies' barrel racing: Erin Hagan had the top time at 17.66 seconds. Jodi Doenz was second at 17.80 seconds, Dannielle Dinius was third at 17.86 seconds and Melissa Thiessen was fourth at 17.90 seconds.
*Junior girls' barrel racing: Nicole Pana and Mardi Yarshenko shared top spot with a time of 17.91 seconds. Cassandra Peters was third at 18.11 seconds, and Mikaela Schick was fourth at 18.17 seconds.
*Steer wrestling: Travis Reay was the winner in 4.1 seconds. Scott King, Charlie King and JD Hays finished in a three-way tie for second in 4.4 seconds.
*Tie-down roping: Scott Sigfusson finished in first place with a time of 8.5 seconds. Bruce Dunham was second at 9.1 seconds, Tyler Popescul was third at 10.4 seconds and Trevor Moebis was fourth at 11.9 seconds.
*Team roping: Neil Miller and Murray Moran took top spot in 7.3 seconds. Riley Roy and Kurt Fletcher were second in 7.9 seconds. Lonnie Brown and Shane Brown were third in 10.6 seconds, and Wyatt Hayes and Ryan Hayes were fourth in 11.1 seconds.
Several other events, including a parade, a light horse show, and a ranch rodeo, were held in conjunction with this year's rodeo.
