Estevan loves a parade

Weatherford won the best overall entry award during the annual SMILE Services Estevan Parade.

The annual SMILE Services Estevan parade attracted 39 entries this year.

Oilfield company Weatherford, which has offices in Estevan, was named the best entry of the parade. Sobey's Ready to Serve won for the best interpretation of the theme, which was "Celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee."

The Wa-Wa Shriners won the award for best comedy. They brought their go-cart patrol from Moosomin to the parade, and local Shriners rode their scooters. The Outram-Madigan 4-H Club won the award for best out-of-town entry. And an unidentified group of women won the award for the best decorated horses.

This year's parade started in southwest Estevan. It moved through residential areas until it reached Estevan's downtown core. The parade continued its way through downtown Estevan until it reached the Souris Valley Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

The parade is held prior to the start of Estevan's Rodeo each year.
