Eight candidates file nomination papers

There have been eight nomination papers filed at Estevan City Hall, as of the morning of September 12, for the upcoming October elections.

Two people have submitted their nomination papers for mayor: Councillor Lynn Chipley and Councillor Roy Ludwig.

Five have filed papers for councillor: incumbents Chris Istace, Brian Johnson and Dennis Moore, former councillor Lori Carr, and two-time candidate Cameron Robock. Councillor Rodney Beatty has previously indicated that he will be seeking re-election this year.

There are six seats available for councillor on City Council.

Also, Janet Foord has filed her nomination papers for one of two Estevan seats on the South East Cornerstone Public School Board. Foord has been on the board since its inception in 2005. Pam Currie, the other Estevan trustee on the board, has stated that she would also file nomination papers.

The nomination forms for mayor, councillor and Estevan trustee on the Cornerstone board need to be turned in to Estevan City Hall by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19.

Nomination forms for the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Board are available locally at St. Mary's School and Sacred Heart School. But they have to be turned in to Holy Family's head office in Weyburn. The deadline is also September 19 at 4 p.m.

There are two seats for city of Estevan trustees, and one seat for an RM of Estevan board member, on Holy Family's board. Nobody from Estevan has filed their papers thus far.
