The honours continue to roll in for Team South East following the 2012 Saskatchewan Summer Games that were held in July and August in Meadow Lake.
In addition to the individual and team success, Team South East has won the Joe Griffith Award. The award is presented to the district team who shows the most improvement in the overall points standings compared with the previous Summer Games.
Team South East finished second in the overall medal standings with 72, including 20 gold medals. In the overall points standings, Team South East was seventh with 101, but they had a 26-point improvement.
Points are awarded based on the overall finish in an event.
The trophy was awarded to Team Rivers West at the closing ceremony of the Meadow Lake Games, but a calculation error was discovered which showed that Team South East enjoyed the greatest improvement.
The region now holds the Joe Griffith Awards for both the Summer and Winter Games; the south east won the award at the last Winter Games in 2010.
