People who are interested in running for Estevan City Council can pick up nomination forms at City Hall.
Nomination forms were available to be picked up on August 27. Candidates can begin submitting their forms on September 4; the deadline to file papers is September 19 at 4 p.m.
The candidate can withdraw from the race, via a written declaration, until 4 p.m. on September 20.
A candidate must be: at least 18 years old on Election Day; a Canadian citizen; a Saskatchewan resident for the past six months; and a resident of the municipality for the past three months.
The candidate’s civic or legal address must be included in the nomination form. The candidate must also obtain the signatures of five nominators, who must also include their legal address.
A mailing address, consisting solely of a post office box number, is insufficient.
Nomination forms are also available at City Hall for the two Estevan seats on the South East Cornerstone Public School Board.
Forms for the Holy Family Roman Catholic Separate School Division are available at Estevan's two separate schools, or at the school division's head office in Weyburn. The completed nomination documents have to be dropped at the Weyburn office.
There are two seats for Estevan on the Holy Family board.
The election for City Council and the two school boards will take place on Wednesday, October 24.
If there isn't a sufficient number of candidates for the council or the school boards, a second call for nominations will be issued.
