A seven-year-old girl from Storthoaks was killed, and five other people were taken to hospital in Regina, following a rollover near Carnduff on August 27.
The accident occurred 11 kilometres north of Carnduff on Highway 318. The Carnduff RCMP was called to the scene; when they arrived, they observed that a mini-van was in the ditch on the east side of the highway. The vehicle had been travelling north when it appeared to roll and wind up in the ditch.
Several EMS units were dispatched the location of the collision, and the STARS Air Ambulance was also called to the scene.
Two different families were inside the mini-van. Both families are originally from Wheatley, Ontario, but one of the clans had recently moved to the Storthoaks area.
An eight-year-old male from Wheatley was transported via STARS to hospital in Regina. Four other people were also rushed by ambulance to Regna. Three of them were from Storthoaks: the 36-year-old female driver, a 15-year-old female and a 14-year-old male. A 41-year-old female from Wheatley was also taken to hospital in Regina.
A one-year-old infant male from Wheatley was uninjured.
The RCMP is awaiting a report from a traffic re-constructionist. Based on the scene examination, it does not appear that all occupants were wearing seatbelts.
