Two members of the Estevan Legion Track and Field Club, William Chamney and Keena McKnight, were part of Team Saskatchewan in the midget division for the recent Western Canadian Midget Youth Championships in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Chamney competed in four events. He finished in 10th place in the boys' 100-metre dash with a time of 12.35 seconds; sixth in the 200-metre dash with a time of 25.27 seconds; fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.65 metres; and eighth in the javelin with a toss of 27.40 metres.
McKnight was seventh in the girls' 800 metres with a time of two minutes and 36.19 seconds; ninth in the 1,200 metres with a time of four minutes and 4.89 seconds; seventh in the 2,000 metres with a time of seven minutes and 37.71 seconds; and 12th in the girls' long jump with a leap of 3.48 metres.
Athletes from Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba competed in the midget and youth divisions at the championships.
