The Estevan Golden Eels swim club captured a pair of meets that were recently held in southeast Saskatchewan.
Estevan won their home event on July 14 with a total of 744 points. The Regina Piranhas were second with 484 and the Weyburn Silver Seals were third with 226.
Two Golden Eels members won overall gold medals for their age groups: Veronica Finkas in the 15 to 17 girls' division and Akeela Jundt in the 18-and-over female competition.
Eight more won age group silver medals: Adah Deleeuw in seven and eight girls; Carson Wheeler in seven and eight boys; Hannah Mantei in nine and 10 girls; Josh Wilson in nine and 10 boys; Payten Wilson in 11 and 12 girls; Abbie Reich in 13 and 14 girls; Sam Beahm in 13 and 14 boys; and David Finkas in 18-and-over boys.
Bronze medal age group winners were: Alia Burlock in nine and 10 girls; Thomas Wakely in 11 and 12 boys; and Taylor Fornwald and Preston Bilokraly finished tied in 15 to 17 boys.
Estevan had about 50 swimmers at the event. There were 126 competitors in total.
The Golden Eels sent 39 swimmers to Oxbow for the Sea Wolves' meet the following day, and came away in top spot with 307 points. Regina was second with 187 points and Oxbow was third with 125.
Age group gold medal winners were: Mantei in nine and 10 girls; Josh Wilson in nine and 10 boys; Reich in 13 and 14 girls; and David Finkas in 18-and-over boys.
Kamri Olfert (seven and eight girls), Wheeler (seven and eight boys), Payten Wilson (11 and 12 girls); and Veronica Finkas (15 to 17 girls) were the age group silver medal winners.
Bronze medal age group winners were: Racquelle Gibbons, 11 and 12 girls; Wakely, 11 and 12 boys; Lanelle Bilokraly, 13 and 14 girls; and Taylor Fornwald, 15 to 17 boys.
The Golden Eels next meets are in Assiniboia on July 21 and Swift Current on July 22.
