The Estevan Drag Racing Association opened its season June 24 at the Estevan Airport by offering races in five different divisions.
Bryon Ludlam of Reston, Manitoba, was the winner in the Quick 16 division. He defeated Norman Dunsmore from Yellow Grass in the final. Ludlam and Dunsmore have won the Quick 16 and the A division several times each during the 10 years that the association has been offering races at the airport.
Tim Bowers of Weyburn defeated Dwight Veysey of Carlyle in the A event final. Matthew Gervais of Weyburn defeated Shaun Johnson from Lampman in the final of the street tire class.
Glen Schiml of Pilot Butte won the bike division; he defeated Dave Krahn from Estevan in the final.
Alyssa Doerr beat Damon Doerr in the final of the junior dragster division in what was an all-Bienfait match-up.
A total of 57 vehicles were entered between the different classes.
The next event for the EDRA will be the Dennis Neelin Memorial program on Sunday, July 15. The event is held in honour of Neelin, a Carlyle resident who passed away in 2011. He was a long-time competitor in drag racing.
