$3.8 million for Saskatchewan community initiatives

The Saskatchewan Community Initiatives Fund (CIF) has announced that 279 Saskatchewan non-profit and volunteer organizations – including one in Yorkton – will collectively receive over $3.8 million in grants in support of their community projects.

Included in that amount is $25,000 for the Yorkton and area Big Brothers Big Sisters Life Skills in School Mentoring Program.

Through the Community Grant Program, the CIF approved 100 grants totaling $1,690,559 for programs that enhance the health and well being of Saskatchewan’s vulnerable children, youth and families.

Grant approvals through the CIF’s Community Vitality Program total $1,972,124 among 177 recipients. This includes 137 grants for capital projects totaling $1,524,253 and 40 grants for community pride projects and events totaling $447,871.

The Grants through this program provide support for small capital projects and for events that enhance community pride, celebrate diversity or mark an anniversary.

The final deadline for this program is October 1, 2012. A complete list of grant recipients and more information about the CIF are available at: www.cifsask.org.
