The Estevan Tarpon Energy Big Dogs juvenile lacrosse team dropped an 11-5 decision in Yorkton on June 17.
Rhett Handley scored 15 seconds into the game to give Estevan a 1-0 lead, and Ryan Frehlick scored two-and-a-half minutes later to double the advantage. But Yorkton would score six unanswered goals to lead 6-2 after the first period.
Yorkton would add two more goals in the second period for an 8-2 lead. Handley scored his second of the game before the period was over to make the score 8-3.
Yorkton scored three times in the first 11 minutes of the third period to dash any hopes of a comeback victory for the Big Dogs. Handley tallied his third and fourth goals of the game in the final five minutes of the third to round out the scoring.
Dylan Smith added three assists for the Big Dogs.
Daniel Wenham started in goal for Estevan and allowed the first eight goals. Dustin Cowan surrendered the final three Yorkton markers.
Estevan's record fell to 2-4-1.
Their next game will be on June 22 against the Regina Rifles at the Icon Centre (formerly the Lignite Miners Centre). The game starts at 7 p.m. Then they visit the Saskatoon Steelers on June 24.
