Rain has caused delays to the asphalt resurfacing of several blocks of King Street in west Estevan.
The project was supposed to be finished by June 15, but precipitation forced the contractors to set the completion date back. There was optimism it could be finished by June 19, but rain again shelved those plans.
Once it is finished, King Street from Sister Roddy Road to Kohaly Avenue will have new asphalt. The first layer was applied on June 18. Rain delayed application of the second layer.
The project was included in last year's budget, but it was one of several projects delayed to 2012. And it was originally slated to be a "shave and pave," similar to what has been done on Perkins Avenue and Kensington Avenue, but some problems with that portion of King Street meant that more extensive work had to be completed.
