Weybex awards presented to local businesses


The 2012 Weybex Awards were held on June 8. Kim Thorson won Business Leader of the Year award, Home Hardware won the Golden Service Award, The Mainil Family of Businesses took the Community Involvement award and Souris Valley Industries won both the New or Expanded Business award and the Business of the Year award. Hall of Fame inductees were Access Communications, John & Helen Georgacacos and RBC Royal Bank Weyburn. The Weybex awards were held on June 8 at McKenna Hall.

Business Leader of the Year award was given to Kim Thorson. The award is sponsored by Cenovus Energy Inc.

The Golden Service Award was given to Home Hardware. The award is sponsored by MNP.

The Community Involvement award was given to The Mainil Family of Businesses. The award was sponsored by SaskEnergy.

Inductees to the Business Hall of Fame were Access Communications, John & Helen Georgacacos and RBC Royal Bank Weyburn. The Business Hall of Fame is sponsored by New Age Electronics.

Souris Valley Industries won the New or Expanded Business award, which is sponsored by Sunrise CFDC. Souris Valley Industries was also presented with the Business of the Year award, which is given to a business that exemplifies spirit and has shown outstanding achievement and commitment to excellence and quality in their field. The Business of the Year award is sponsored by Weyburn Co-op.

The winners were presented with glass trophies and they now move on to the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Abex Awards, which will be held in October.
