The Estevan Comprehensive School (ECS) Elecs' cheerleading team has regained the provincial senior small varsity championship.
Estevan finished with a score of 74.58 to finish ahead of entries from Churchill Community High School in La Ronge (68.88), Regina Balfour (65) and Yorkton Regional (57.22), and win the provincial title for the first time since 2008.
Provincials were held at the Leboldus High School in Regina on Saturday.
“One of the comments was that it was a very professional performance, which was impressive,” said coach Bonnie Chepil-Kvamme.
Their routine included three liberties, or cheerleading stunts, plus two extended pyramids. They also had twist cradles throughout the routines, twisting fly-backs and single-based extended hand stunts, Chepil-Kvamme said.
