The Saskatchewan Roughriders sent the Calgary Stampeders home with a loss after beating them 43-37 in overtime. The Stampeders were ahead 10-0 in the first quarter, but the Riders stayed with them and eventually tied the game at 37-37. The Riders then won the game in overtime. Quarterback Darian Durant attempted 39 passes and completed 23 for 500 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. The Riders record is 7-4 and their next game is against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Other scores from Week 12 were: the Hamilton Tiger-Cats edged the B.C. Lions 35-31, the Toronto Argonauts got past the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 17-13 and the Montreal Alouettes hammered the Edmonton Eskimos 31-14.
In the United Football League, the Las Vegas Locomotives, who are the defending league champions, lost 27-20 to the Florida Tuskers. The Locos record is 0-1 and their next game, in week 3, is against the Tuskers.
The other score from Week 1 was the Hartford Colonials beat the Sacramento Mountain Lions 27-10. The team that didn’t play was the Omaha Nighthawks, who are the newest team. They had the bye.
In the NFL, the New England Patriots lost 28-14 to the New York Jets. The Pats record is 1-1 and their next game is against the Buffalo Bills.
Other scores from Week 2 were: Kansas City beat Cleveland 16-14, Tampa Bay pounded Carolina 20-7, Houston got past Washington 30-27 in overtime, Oakland sneaked by St. Louis 16-14 and Miami beat Minnesota 14-10.
In NCAA Football, the No. 9 Florida Gators beat the Tennessee Volunteers 31-17. The Gators record is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Other scores from Week 2 were: No. 3 Boise State took out Wyoming 51-6, No. 5 Oregon took Portland State to the woodshed 69-0, No. 14 Utah beat New Mexico 56-14 and No. 20 Michigan beat Massachusetts 42-37.
In the SJHL, the Eagle Drilling Estevan Bruins beat the Melville Millionaires 7-3. Estevan has outscored Melville 13-7 in their first two meetings of the season.
