Police make arrests for theft, impaired drivers and a dangerous driver

*Police arrested and charged a 35-year-old Estevan male with impaired driving after a complaint in the downtown area. The male will appear in Estevan Provincial Court in late September to answer to the charge.

*Police charged an 18-year-old Estevan male with possession of a controlled substance after a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the Hillside area. He will appear in court in October to answer to the charges.

*Police were called to a report of a youth at the Estevan Comprehensive School who was in possession of a controlled substance. The matter remains under investigation.

*Police responded to a complaint of a theft in progress at a local restaurant. Multiple suspects fled on foot. Police arrested a 25-year-old Hamilton resident, and tracked a 23-year-old male to his residence. The males are facing charges of theft under $5,000 and breaching court-ordered conditions. They will appear in court in October.

*Police charged a male with impaired driving and driving while over .08, as well as dangerous driving, on September 18. The driver turned left off of King Street and southbound onto 13th Avenue. He accelerated quickly, causing the vehicle to lose control. The vehicle made a large fish-tail, then went over the boulevard and struck a planter and a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered a minor elbow injury. Several other pedestrians were forced to scramble out of the way to avoid the vehicle.

*Police received a vandalism complaint. A person’s car was egged. The matter is under investigation.

*Police received a call from a hotel on September 17, advising them that a truck had been stolen from the parking lot. It was last seen about an hour before it was reported stolen. A short time later, police received a call that a truck was in the ditch three kilometres west of Carnduff. The plate on the truck in the ditch matched the stolen truck’s plate. Carnduff RCMP were dispatched to the scene, and the truck was retrieved. The matter is under investigation.

*While on patrol, officers broke up the start of a fight outside one of the local bars. One person was later sent home with his parents with some stitches and a headache.
