Estevan Bruins forward Dylan Smith is one of eight SJHL players selected to attend the Team Canada West evaluation camp for the upcoming World Junior A Challenge.
Smith, an 18-year-old forward from Big River, was the Bruins top rookie and their top scorer last year with 38 points in 45 games. So far this year, he has three points in two games, and he is skating on the team’s top line.
The evaluation camp will take place September 27 and 28 in Penticton, B.C. The tournament, also slated for Penticton, is set for November 8 to 14.
Team Canada West is comprised of players from the SJHL, plus leagues from B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario. Kindersley Klippers head coach Larry Wintoneak will guide Team Canada West this year.
