Estevan Police Service members were called to a local bar Friday night after one male was attacked by another man.
When police arrived, the victim was on the ground, and the suspect was attacking him for a second time. Police intervened, and the suspect engaged members in a fight.
The suspect was taken into custody and is facing several charges, including assault causing bodily harm, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He was released on strict conditions, and he is scheduled to appear in court on October 4.
Also on Friday night, police were called to a fight at a different bar early in the evening. Two male subjects were arrested and lodged in cells.
Police arrested and lodged a 38-year-old male for public intoxication when police received a call from a resident, who reported someone on the front step of their home in the central part of the city. The male was lodged in cells until sober.
Police were called to a noisy stereo coming from a vehicle parked near a local apartment building. On arrival, three minors were noted to be in the vehicle and in possession of alcohol. They were charged under the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act.
Police received a report of a youth out past his court-ordered curfew. The young person will be facing charges for breaching the order.
Another bar fight occurred on Saturday night. A 45-year-old male was injured and transported to hospital, where he was admitted for observation. The male was also very intoxicated. The matter is still under investigation.
Also, a 48-year-old was arrested for public intoxication when police noticed him urinating on the parking lot of the Husky Gas Station at the corner of Souris Avenue and Fourth Street. He was lodged in cells until sober. He has also been fined $500 under the city’s bylaw for urinating in public.
