QUESTION OF THE WEEK

We are having a BABY!

What a week of news! I do not know where to even begin.

It began on a Monday, when a friend invited us to see a car he found that he thought we might like, as our “Audrey” - the $400 junker van we bought after returning from the Philippines – died on us outside of Regina. It turns out his whole plan was to buy us this car as a gift to us. He felt it was something he needed to do. We were amazed, and still are so amazed that someone would do that for us! How incredible to have people in our lives that are willing to sacrifice their time and money to help us. We didn’t think the week could get better.

But it did! We then found out our condo had sold. It had only been on the market for a week-and-a-half. We also had our offer accepted on the house we have been desperate to buy for the last three months. The house also happens to be right next to our “ifamily” columnist. Hope they are good neighbours!

But the news of all news to top of an incredible week of blessings was finding out that we are pregnant with our first baby! It was an unbelievable day. The Husband got home from work, I told him about the condo selling, then I took a pregnancy test and there we were smiling from ear to ear that the day managed to get even bigger that we thought possible.

The funny thing is I was so nervous that the test could be wrong that we went to the store, picked up another test. The only next available stop was McDonalds, and we could not wait to take another one. Of course it was positive again, and the hospital confirmed it with us, too.

I cannot believe I get to share this amazing, life-changing news with you all. I always hoped I would be writing long enough that I would get to share this. I think we will have to now refer to this baby as “THE baby.” But who knows. Maybe when he or she is born I will disclose the name, but never the husband's name.

We spent the weekend with my parents celebrating – talking about baby names, the new house and how we will decorate the baby room. It was so awesome to spend the first moments of excitement with our families. Being able to be excited together. I feel like it is so right.

The baby will be joining the world at the end of April, which is just near our second anniversary… best gift ever!

So join me in the next nine months for the journey of the bump. The husband and I on a journey that will change out lives forever, and we know it will be for the best!
