Estevan police make arrests for impaired driving and other charges

*Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of 14th Avenue and Fifth Street on September 8. The driver of an eastbound vehicle left the stop sign and struck a northbound vehicle. The impact was such that the airbags deployed for the northbound vehicle. The driver of the eastbound vehicle has been charged under the Traffic Safety Act for leaving a stop sign before it was safe. No injuries occurred.

*Police responded to a loud party in the 1200 block of King Street. A male was arrested for public intoxication and urinating in a public place.

*A 37-year-old male has been charged following a domestic situation and an assault.

*Police received a report of a stolen laptop computer in central Estevan. Two males who were invited into the home are believed to have committed the theft.

*A vehicle theft was reported. The registered owner attempted to retrieve the vehicle from a local establishment, and she noticed it was gone.

*An attempted break-and-enter occurred. The tenant awoke to the sound of breaking glass at the back door. The suspect did not gain entry. The matter is under investigation.

*Police received a report of vandalism. A vehicle was keyed in central Estevan. The matter remains under investigation.

*Two males were charged with impaired driving on September 4. One, a 24-year-old male, was charged after police initiated a traffic stop on a golf cart in northwest Estevan. The other, a 20-year-old male, was charged following a traffic stop in central Estevan.

*Two males entered a home in southwest Estevan and attempted to steal a safe. The matter remains under investigation.

*A 25-year-old male is facing charges of impaired driving and driving while over .08 following a traffic stop on the east end of the city. He will make a court appearance on September 30.

*Police received complaints of two separate vehicles leaving a local lounge. The operators of both vehicles were reported to be impaired. Police intercepted both vehicles, one on King Street and the other on Kensington Avenue. The King Street vehicle’s operator was found to be sober, and, in fact, was a designated driver. The operator of the other vehicle was arrested and is facing charges for impaired driving and driving while over .08. His court date is set for September 23.
