College Football Set To Begin

The 2010 NCAA Football season is ready to start and with that there are several teams that have new head coaches. Florida State gets a new look with Jimbo Fisher, who takes over from Bobby Bowden. Other new coaches are: Tommy Tuberville at Texas Tech, Butch Jones at Cincinnati, Charlie Strong goes to Louisville, Lane Kiffin will be at Southern California, Derek Dooley goes to Tennessee, Joker Phillips will be at Kentucky, Brian Kelly will guide Notre Dame, and Skip Holtz takes over South Florida.

Here are my top 24 predictions: No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Virginia Tech, No. 4 Boise State, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Penn State, No. 9 Florida State, No. 10 Oregon, No. 11 Iowa, No. 12 Nebraska, No. 13 Georgia, No. 14 Miami, No. 15 Texas, No. 16 Pittsburgh, No. 17 Wisconsin, No. 18 Clemson, No. 19 Texas Christian, No. 20 Auburn, No. 21 Louisiana State University, No. 22 Arkansas, No. 23 North Carolina and No. 24 Rutgers.

In the CFL, the Saskatchewan Roughriders lost 17-14 to the Edmonton Eskimos. The Riders played a really bad game after going up l4-0. The Riders’ record is 5-3 and their next two games are against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The other score from Week 9 was the Calgary Stampeders beat the B.C. Lions 48-35.

In the NFL pre-season, the New England Patriots lost 36-35 to the St. Louis Rams in a close game. The Pats record is 2-1 and their final pre-season game is against the New York Giants.

Other pre-season scores were: the New Orleans Saints beat San Diego 36-21, the Green Bay Packers hammered the Indianapolis Colts 59-24 and the Houston Texans beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-7.

In International Rugby, the Qantas Wallabies lost 44-31 to the South Africa Springboks.

South Africa came from behind to win the match. The Wallabies record is 4-4 and their next match is against South Africa.

That’s all folks!
