A trio of games for Football Day in Estevan

All three of Estevan’s minor football teams opened their home schedules on August 28 as part of the annual Football Day in Estevan.

The Century 21 Peewee Chargers improved their record to a perfect 3-0 with a 14-0 victory over the Regina Razorbacks. The win was the Chargers second straight shutout.

The defence opened the scoring, as Evan Stabenow returned a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown.

Kaleb Memory had Estevan’s other major.

The Sherritt Coal Atom Miners lost 33-24 to the Regina Canadians. Donny Mortenson scored four touchdowns for the Miners.

The Lafrentz Trucking Bantam Steelers were defeated 20-8 by the Regina Raiders. Nolan Tide had the only touchdown for the Steelers.

Other highlights from Football Day in Estevan included a children’s carnival, a performance by children’s entertainer The Bubbleman, a steak supper, the showing of the Saskatchewan Roughriders versus Edmonton Eskimos game on a big screen television, and the annual Party in the Park cabaret.
