The Midale Credit Union celebrated 50 years of serving their community by hosting a banquet on August 27.
Several activities and presentations were made at the event. The Town of Midale handed out a congratulatory plaque to Midale Credit Union general manager Bob Harris.
Various historical displays recapped significant events and milestones from the past half century.
Rising Saskatchewan country music singer Codie Prevost provided entertainment.
“It was just a good evening,” said marketing manager Britney Fisher. “Good company, good entertainment and good food.”
About 100 people attended the event, Fisher said.
Fisher said the credit union has undergone a lot of changes. She noted that when they renovated their building a few years ago, the expense was about 10 times greater than when the building itself was constructed.
“Over time, everything changes so much,” said Fisher. “There used to be a branch of the Midale Credit Union in the high school, and the students ran it, and that would never be able to happen these days, because of all the privacy issues.”
Technology has also created many changes to the credit union system, Fisher said.
Fisher said the Midale Credit Union is a strong, independent and long-standing credit union that hasn’t undergone any amalgamations.
