The Souris Valley Museum celebrated history and heritage on August 21 by hosting a pioneer fun day.
Marlene Decker demonstrated old-time bread-making techniques, Evelyn Johnson showed how to hook rugs and Darlene Martin offered pottery tips. The public was able to learn how to make rope.
The Friends of the Museum conducted a schoolhouse re-enactment. They recalled their experiences as teachers and students in a one-room schoolhouse.
Herman Fornwald and Edna Whitrow offered horse and buggy rides. People participated in games of horseshoes, and hoops and sticks. The Block Party Quilting Guild had quilts on display.
Face painting, crafts, a treasure hunt, a scavenger hunt, a barbecue and museum tours were also part of the event.
