The Saskatchewan Roughriders pounded the B.C. Lions 37-13 in a one-sided game. The Riders had control of the game from start to finish. The Lions had a 3-0 lead but that was short-lived as the Riders had a big lead at halftime, 21-6.Quarterback Darian Durant attempted 27 passes while completing 18, for 223 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He also rushed for two touchdowns. The Riders’ record is 5-2 and their next game is against the Edmonton Eskimos.

Other scores from Week 7 were: the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 39-28, the Toronto Argonauts upset the Montreal Alouettes 37-22, and the Calgary Stampeders kicked the Edmonton Eskimos from one end of McMahon Stadium to the other end, and back again, and won 56-15.

In NFL preseason, the New England Patriots beat the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints 27-24 in a close game. The Patriots’ preseason record is 1-0 and their next game is against the Atlanta Falcons.

Other preseason Week 1 scores were: the Washington Redskins beat the Buffalo Bills 42-17, the Miami Dolphins got past the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10-7, the Minnesota Vikings beat the St. Louis Rams 28-7 and the Atlanta Falcons beat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-10.

In the Arena Football League, the Tampa Bay Storm are off to Arena Bowl XXIII after beating the Orlando Predators 63-62. They will face the Spokane Shock, who beat the Milwaukee Iron 60-57.

In the Western Major Baseball League, the Regina Red Sox season is over. They lost 7-2 to the Swift Current Indians, and were swept two games to none in the Western Major Baseball League final.

In the English Premier League, Manchester United beat Newcastle 3-0 in a one-sided game. Man U’s record is 1-0 and their next match is against Fulham.
