A Hurricane and a Bushwhacker part of Estevan’s wrestling card

Zack Mercury reaches the ropes and forces Big Daddy Kash to break a hold.

Professional wrestling made its return to Estevan on August 13, as Canadian Wrestling Elite brought its “Cruel Summer” tour to the Wylie-Mitchell Building.

Former World Wrestling Entertainment performers “Bushwhacker” Luke Williams and Shane “Hurricane” Helms were the marquee attractions on the five-match card.

The New Zealand-born Williams is best-known for teaming with Butch Miller for more than 25 years. They were known as the Bushwhackers when they were in the WWE from 1989 to 1996.

But in Estevan, Williams was in a singles match against “Pimp Daddy” Rick Matthews. Matthews pinned Williams following a low blow.

Helms and masked wrestler Mentallo defeated Plum Loco and CWE champion AJ Sanchez in the main event tag team match. Helms, who starred in the cruiserweight divisions of the WWE and World Championship Wrestling for nearly a decade, pinned Loco after Helms used his finishing hold, a choke slam.

Other results from the card were: CWE tag team champion Danny Duggan defeat former Ring of Honour champion Roderick Strong, Jimmy Jacobs pinned Rex Roberts, and Zack Mercury beat Big Daddy Kash.
