The Saskatchewan Roughriders split the season series with the Montreal Alouettes after losing a close game 30-26. The Riders, once again, started off slow in the first half. The score was 24-10 for Montreal at half-time. But in the second half, the Roughriders came alive and shut down the Montreal Alouettes, holding them to just one first down. Quarterback Darian Durant attempted 62 passes while completing 35 for 445 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Riders record is 4-2 and their next game is against the 1-5 B.C. Lions.
Other scores from Week 6 were: the Toronto Argonauts got past the Edmonton Eskimos 29-28; the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 29-22 and the Calgary Stampeders outlasted the B.C. Lions 27-22.
In the Arena Football playoffs, the Orlando Predators beat the Jacksonville Sharks 79-63, the Spokane Shock beat the Arizona Rattlers 57-49, the Tampa Bay Storm hammered the Tulsa Talons 68-38 and the Milwaukee Iron eliminated the Chicago Rush 64-54.
In Major League Baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays swept the Tampa Bay Rays. The score in the last game of the series was 1-0. Pitcher Brandon Morrow was on the verge of the second no-hitter in Blue Jays history but he came up short when the Rays tagged him for a single in the ninth. The Jays are currently in fourth place in the American League East Division.
In International Rugby, the Qantas Wallabies lost their second match, 20-10, to the New Zealand All Blacks; As a result of the loss the Wallabies will not take home the Bledisloe Cup. The Wallabies record is 4-3 and their next match is against the South Africa Springboks.
In NASCAR, Juan Pablo Montoya won the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen when he finished ahead of Kurt Bush. As for Bobby Labonte he started in 29th but finished the race in 35th. The next race is the Carfax 400.
In the Camping World Truck Series, Todd Bodine won the summer Nashville 200 when he finished ahead of Austin Dillon. Mike Skinner started in 15th and finished the race in 11th. The next race is the Too Tough to Tame 200.
