The Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 37-24 in another error-filled game. Again, the Riders didn’t take control of the game until the fourth quarter. In the meantime, the Riders couldn’t stop Tiger-Cat wide receiver Arland Bruce III who had a big game with 272 receiving yards. Riders’ quarterback Darian Durant attempted 35 passes while completing 21 for 270 yards with one interception. The Riders record is 4-1 and their next game is against the Montreal Alouettes.
Other scores from Week 5 were: the Montreal Alouettes wasted the Toronto Argonauts 41-10, the Edmonton Eskimos got past the B.C. Lions 28-25 and the Calgary Stampeders outlasted the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23-20.
In the Arena Football League, the Road to Arena Bowl XXIII begins now. There are eight teams that have qualified for the playoffs. In the American Conference, the top-seeded Jacksonville Sharks will face the fourth seeded Orlando Predators, while in the other match-up, the No. 2 seed Tulsa Talons will face the third seeded Tampa Bay Storm. In the National Conference, the No. 1 seed Spokane Shock will face the fourth seeded Arizona Rattlers, and the No. 2 seed Milwaukee Iron face the third seeded Chicago Rush.
In Major League Baseball, the Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees 3-0 to take two of three games in a series.
In International Rugby, the Qantas Wallabies lost 49-28 to their rivals, the New Zealand All Blacks, in a one sided game. The Wallabies record is 4-2 and their next match is against the All Blacks.
In NASCAR, Greg Biffle won the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500. He beat out Tony Stewart to win his first race of the year. As for Bobby Labonte he started in 22nd and finished the race in 28th place. The next race is the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen.
In the Camping World Truck Series, Elliott Sadler won the Pocono Mountains 125; he beat Kasey Kahne to win the race. As for Mike Skinner he started in 10th and finished in sixth place. The next race is the summer Nashville 200.
