Chefs square off at the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum chili cook-off

(L-R) Estevan Fire Services members Charles Olsen, Kelsey Jochems, Neil Kish, Doug Deren and Jason Elliott from Estevan Fire Services won the People’s Choice Award.

Bowls of steaming chili were served to the public on July 24 during the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum’s (EAGM) annual celebrity chili cook-off.

Those who were in attendance could vote for their favourite chili to receive the People’s Choice Award. Estevan Fire Services would receive the most votes for that honour.

A panel of judges also selected their favourite chili for an award. For the second straight year, TS&M Supply was the winner.

Body and Sole was recognized for having the best-decorated booth.

Other teams entered in the competition were Nelson Meats, CJ Inspections, Murray GM, the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum, and the Estevan and District Board of Tourism, Trade and Commerce.

Each team prepared unique chili recipes, using their own blends of meat, vegetables, spices and sauce. The chili was complemented with sour cream, salsa, cheese, bread and other foods.

Proceeds from the event will be directed to the EAGM’s educator programs.
