The Saskatchewan Roughriders lost 40-20 to the Calgary Stampeders in a game that got out of hand in the second half. The Riders started off slowly but got it going in the second quarter. The game was tied 7-7 at the half. The Riders made several mistakes in the second half that cost them the game. Quarterback Darian Durant had a bad game. He went 22 of 37 for 354 yards passing with one touchdown and three interceptions. The Riders’ record is 3-1, which ties them with Calgary for first place, and their next game is against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Other scores from Week 3 were: the Montreal Alouettes hammered the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 37-14, the Toronto Argonauts got past the B.C. Lions 24-20, and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers took out the Edmonton Eskimos 47-21.
Scores from Week 16 in the Arena Football League were: the Spokane Shock beat the Chicago Rush 63-49; the Orlando Predators hammered the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 49-21; the Tampa Bay Storm took the Alabama Vipers to the woodshed 53-29; the Arizona Rattlers beat the Tulsa Talons 61-51; the Milwaukee Iron beat the Iowa Barnstormers 75-67; and the Jacksonville Sharks beat the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings 48-20.
In the Western Major Baseball League, the Regina Red Sox beat the Weyburn Beavers 5-1. The Red Sox’ record is 29-12 and they are still leading the East Division.
In International Rugby, the Qantas Wallabies beat the South Africa Springboks 30-13. The Wallabies have won their past seven games against South Africa. The Wallabies’ record is 4-1 and their next match is against their biggest rivals, the New Zealand All Blacks.
In NASCAR, Jamie McMurray won the Brickyard 400, beating Kevin Harvick to win his second race of the season. Bobby Labonte started the race in 36th place and finished in 31st place. The next race is the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500.
In the Camping World Truck Series, Ron Hornaday Jr. won the AAA Insurance 200. Mike Skinner started the race in seventh and finished in 15th place. The next race is the Pocono Mountains 125.
