The second play of the year at the Souris Valley Theatre will begin Wednesday night.
Rhyme Rustler: the Ballad of Robert Service” tells the story of Service, who was a great Canadian poet, and his time spent in the Yukon during the gold rush, when he wrote such famous ballads as “The Shooting of Dan McGrew” and “The Cremation of Sam McGee.”
The show will run from Wednesdays through Sundays until August 15.
“It’s very funny, and it’s all set to rag-time … piano music,” said Ron Ror, the manager and executive producer for the Souris Valley Theatre. “There’s a little bit of history and a little bit of Canadiana.”
An opening night supper will be served on Wednesday night prior to the first performance of “Rhyme Rustler.”
“Corner Gassed” was the first show at the theatre this year. It ran from July 7 to 25.
