Estevan City Council has approved more than $18,000 in funding for a downtown park in the 1100 block of Fourth Street.
The expenses for the park include: $4,800 for a paving stone walkway, $6,240 to supply and install stackstone retaining walls and beds, $5,400 for a paving stone circle, $1,000 for concrete planters and $600 for the removal of existing concrete.
“We hope that it's going to be a nice place,” said Councillor Lynn Chipley.
The park will be located between the Salvation Army's building and a SaskTel building.
Construction is slated to start on August 7, and it should only take a couple of weeks, Chipley said.
Chipley also revealed during Monday night's meeting that a mural will be painted on the west wall of the Salvation Army's building next year.
