Estevan Police Service members were involved in a high-speed chase over the weekend.
The chase began when police tried to stop a vehicle driving erratically near the Souris Valley Aquatic and Leisure Centre. The chase continued all the way to Benson, and back to Estevan, with speeds reaching 160 kilometres per hour.
The pursuit ended when the suspects’ vehicle struck the southwest corner of a house at the intersection of Fourth Street and Eighth Avenue. The suspects fled the car and started to run.
Police weren’t able to apprehend or efficiently search for the suspects, since they no longer have the services of a police tracking dog.
The vehicle was unregistered and the suspects are believed to have outstanding warrants. Alcohol and/or drugs may have also been a factor in the pursuit.
Police responded to a number of other calls during the weekend:
*An 18-year-old female was charged with obstructing a police officer, escaping lawful custody and having open liquor in a public place, after she was apprehended following a foot chase from The Beef Bar parking lot. She was lodged in cells for the night.
*A 28-year-old male who is well known to police was apprehended and charged with five criminal code offences after a 9-11 call was received for an assault that had taken place at the Willow Park Greens trailer park.
