Dear Editor,
We are just days away from judging for the Golden Garbage Can, and I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for every single resident and business owner to participate in some small way. We have a wonderful city, full of highly engaged and busy individuals. Hats off to the Riderville Committee for the passion and excitement they brought to our community. Over a very few weeks, EVERYONE felt a part of Riderville.
It is my hope that everyone in this City feels enough pride (Rider pride or otherwise) to clean up their own backyards, to assist a neighbor who needs debris hauled away, to pull the weeds and tend to their gardens. If every single person and business owner does their part, we will be litter and weed free.
I thank the many volunteers who planted 10,000+ flowers, the City staff who are keeping up with mowing despite the rain, and the individuals who walk our City every day and pick up litter. They are to be commended for doing their part to make Estevan a brighter and cleaner place to live.
We will be hosting the Honorable Nancy Heppner, Minister of the Environment, while she passes judgment on our City. We won’t be perfect…no city is. But we will put our best foot forward and show her our City with pride. We’ve come a long way in the five years since the Estevan Beautification Committee and the City of Estevan started down a path of green space improvement. With the continued support and participation of the community, we will see continued improvement. So, let’s get at it and KICK WEYBURN’S CAN!!!!
Yours truly,
Lynn Chipley
Chair
Golden Garbage Can Committee
