The Estevan Comprehensive School handed out scholarships, trophies and plaques during its annual awards night on June 9.
Businesses, non-profit organizations and families handed out scholarships, bursaries and awards to Grade 12 students for their academic accomplishments and for their commitment to the school and the community.
Students in all grades were recognized for their efforts in academics, athletics, fine arts and extra-curricular activities.
Among the awards handed out was the inaugural Colin Grunert Memorial Scholarship for Accomplishments in Band. Grunert was a long-time band teacher at the school who passed away in November following a brief battle with cancer.
Bruce Adams from the South East Cornerstone School Division paid tribute to Grunert's passion for music and teaching, and to Grunert's commitment to the community.
Adrienne Dechief was the first-ever recipient of the scholarship.
