Peewee AA Bruins out of playoffs

The Estevan Sherritt Coal Peewee AA Bruins have been eliminated from the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League’s playoffs.

Estevan lost in two straight games to the Weyburn Wings in a best-of-three first round series.

The Bruins lost Game 1 4-0 in Weyburn on March 7. The Wings scored three times in the final 12 minutes to break open a close, 1-0 game.

Estevan lost 4-3 in overtime in Game 2 on March 9. Kyle Seipp, Cole Piche and Colton Gingras scored in the second period to give Estevan a 3-2 lead after 40 minutes. Gingras and Talys Halabuza had the assists for Estevan.

But Weyburn tied the game in the third, and scored the series winner midway through the first overtime period.

Estevan will play at a tournament in Grand Forks, N.D., from March 19 to 21 to conclude their season.
